About this template
This page is a template. It must be reviewed by a Canadian lawyer and an insurance professional before it is used with real customers.
Text in [square brackets] is a placeholder or a suggested default that the business owner must confirm or replace.
In this page, “we”, “us” and “FilmRental” mean [Legal entity name], operating as FilmRental at filmrental.ca. “You” means the person or company renting from us.
Who is responsible
From the moment you pick up (or receive) the equipment until we get it back, you are responsible for it.
This includes damage, loss and theft, unless the damage waiver or your own insurance applies as described on the Insurance & Damage Waiver page.
Inspection at return
We check every item when it comes back. The deposit hold is released after this check is finished.
If we find damage or missing parts, we will tell you in writing and may send photos. Please reply within [3 business days] if you disagree.
Normal wear
Normal wear from proper use (small marks on cases, light dust) is not charged.
Dirty equipment may be charged a cleaning fee of [amount].
Repairable damage
If the equipment can be repaired, you pay the repair cost plus the rental income we lose while the item is out of service. [Owner to confirm loss-of-use terms.]
We will share the repair quote or invoice with you on request.
Lost, stolen or destroyed equipment
If equipment is lost, stolen or cannot be repaired, you pay its replacement value, as listed in your booking, minus any amount covered by the damage waiver or your insurance.
For theft, file a police report immediately and send us the report number within 24 hours.
Small accessories
Small accessories such as batteries, cables, caps, filters, memory cards and cases that are lost or damaged are charged at the price listed for that accessory [or at replacement cost].
The damage waiver does not cover lost small accessories.
What to do if something goes wrong
Stop using the equipment if it is damaged or not working, and contact us at info@filmrental.ca as soon as you can.
Do not try to repair equipment yourself.
Charges and disputes
We may charge the card on file for approved damage or loss amounts after we notify you in writing.
